Other architects are installing old tires into the soil so the impact is soft on the ground:

Seesaws without soft rubber buffer without suspension
Seesaws without soft rubber buffer are blocking the children in their development possibilities, and there is always a threat of a hard impact.

Broken seesaws

Playground devices are also victims of brainless adults. Seesaws are affected often by this - by vandalism or by recklessness of adults meaning that a seesaw would bear also the weight of several adult persons:

This seesaw of metal
was destroyed (probably by vandalism by
                              brainless adults), Paraguari, Paraguay

This seesaw of wood
on a woodchip ground was destroyed by
                              vandalism by brainless adult people,

Well, one can see that seesaws are abused by adult people "just for fun" charging them with enormous weights, and dome seesaws are breaking then. Adults should be aware that playground devices are in real danger of breaking when adults are overcharging them - and playground devices are determined for children - or a playground for adults is needed.

-- this is a very good construction with a distribution of the weight to different points in a far distance (+).

As it seems playgrounds for adults are wanted with extra strong seesaws...

Seesaw in the water
Some playgrounds have their seesaws in the water when there has been a rain, and then the seesaw cannot be used during several days. That can be avoided
-- when soft floor panels are used, or
-- when woodchip ground is put, or
-- when tires are installed in the soil, or
-- when an artificial lawn is installed with a good dewatering, or
-- when a goot lawn protection mat is installed, or
-- when the seesaw is under a big roof.

Not usable seesaw in
the water after a rainfall in Ejido Park
                              in Quito, Ecuador

The seesaw construction itself is really a model
-- with soft rubber buffers
-- and the weight is distributed to two distant points without provoking too many holes in the bar.

But the soil under the seesaw is extremely dense by pressing the soil by the children's feet and by the rubber buffer of the seesaw. Therefore a seesaw really needs a good permeable soil construction, with a grass lattice, or with soft floor panels, or with a woodchip ground which has to be scarified regularly in this case, or with an artificial lawn, or with a roof. But the best for seesaws seem to be really tires installed in the soil, or there are more possibilities.
