Examples for slides
Broad slides for sliding together
Slide variations for children since 5 years
From about 5 years on the hands of the children are strong enough also for breaking maneuvers on the slide. Since 5 years they also can manage sliding alone without accidents. And of course they are also climbing the slides upwards.
There are many variations for shaping slides. The most important criteria are:
-- that the access stairs is not too steep
-- that the slide is not too steep, too, and
-- that the slide has got a flat end which is long enough for breaking the children before they touch the soil so they will not fall on their nose.
Here are some examples:
Slide with ladder and with a flat end [10]
Slide with ladder and with a flat end, technical data [11]
Slide on a slope with stone steps in Hohberg near Offenburg, South Germany [12]
Curved slide, Jesuits Meadow, Vienna [13]
Curved slide on a slope with tire steps on a woodchip ground, Seefeld in Tirol, Austria [14]
Colorful garden house slide, residence Banjaard at North Sea in Holland [15]
Tunnel slide with a bird's beak, St John Park (St.-Johann-Park), Basel [16]
Back view of tunnel slide with a bird's beak, St John Park (St.-Johann-Park), Basel [17]
Slide with climbing possibility and swings in Ejido Park in Quito, Ecuador [18]
Slides on artificial hills and mountains:
Volcano slides
Chile in South "America" has many volcanoes. An artist has taken this topic forming volcano objects on the playground, and there are some volcano slides:
Volcano slides 01 on Brazil Square (plaza Brasil) in Santiago in Chile [19]
Volcano slice 02 on Brazil Square (plaza Brasil) in Santiago in Chile, frontal view [20]
Volcano slice 03 on Brazil Square (plaza Brasil) in Santiago in Chile with a smiling face and a snowy top [21]
Slides on artificial hills
Moreover there is the principle that slides can be built up on artificial hills so the playgrounds are not so flat any more like a flat pie:
Slide on an artificial earth hill with a tunnel, Egelsbach near Darmstadt, Germany [22]
Unfortunately trees are missing giving shadow to the children.
Broad slide on an artificial tire hill in Hamburg-Lurup [23]
This "stair hill" made of tires and sand offer sitting accommodations, and can also be a location for playing tag. The association with the damaging car traffic is not respected by the children.
Double slides are potentially more joy for children, above all when the slides are built up in a safe way also for climbing up.
Pyramid slide - double slides
Double slide in form of a pyramid slide, Brazil Square (plaza Brasil), Santiago in Chile, lateral view [24]
Double slide in form of a pyramid slide, Brazil Square (plaza Brasil), Santiago in Chile, half frontal view [25]
Double slide in form of a colorful globe structure 01, Ayacucho, Extension of Liberty Avenue (Avenida Prolongación de la Libertad), Peru [26]
Double slide in form of a colorful globe structure 02, Ayacucho, Extension of Liberty Avenue (Avenida Prolongación de la Libertad), Peru [27]
This slide offers not only the possibility for sliding but also offers excellent climbing possibilities. The whole world should have this slide:
-- the slide is painted in a multicolor way (+)
-- the slide has got two stairs (+) and two slides (+)
-- the slides are not too steep, so the children can also climb up the slides (+)
-- the construction also offers other gymnastic possibilities as if it would be a horizontal bar (+)
-- mentally this double slide is a symbol for Mother Earth or is also a symbol for a mother with opened two arms (+).
This double slide which can be seen many times in Peruvian towns - with flat ends - gets (++++++) SIX plus.
Well, the sliding surface can be bettered because the basin is missing and the legs of the children can block themselves at the holders. The basin has to be put.

Slide tower
Slide tower with 3 slides at Hotel Mutter Bahr near Ibbenbueren-Uffeln, region of Muenster, North Rhine Westfalen, Germany [29]
-- the slide tower and the slides are painted in different colors (+)
-- the slides are not too steep, so the children can also climb up the slides (+)
-- the flat end of the slides is horizontal and deep so there are never accidents with it (+)
-- the stairs are under a roof giving shelter and protection from sun and rain (+) and this roofed tower can also offer opportunities for talks (+).
This excellent slide tower gets (+++++) FIVE plus.
With a net for climbing or with a wall for climbing the tower can get more attraction yet.
Inflatable slides
Since about 10 years industry is producing also giant inflatable slides:
Inflatable slide 01, from the company "Event-Schmiede KTL", Fulda, Germany [30]
Inflatable slide 02 "Everest" [31]
Sleeping room slide
Slides can also be combined with a loft bed but must not be too steep and should also have a flat end:
Sleeping room slide with flat end with a loft bed [32]
When a child with 2 or 3 years is climbing a slide parents should control every step because children cannot break yet and toddlers do not feel safe when they do not see their parents.
Impracticable slides
Impracticable slides are too steep or have a too short or a too high flat end or don't have any flat end. Such nonsense should not be built. Unfortunately they can be found many times in the world, but sliding is not possible in a free way without flat end because children are only breaking with fear on them:
Impractical slide with a too short and much too high flat end so children fall on their nose, and there is no railing going up. This model can be found in whole criminal corrupt town of Trujillo in Peru. Crazy [33]
Impractical slide without any flat end so the children fall directly on the ground, and there is no railing for going up. This model is in Tsachopen in Oxapampa region in Peru. Crazy [34]
Slide without flat end with seesaws made of wood without any rubber buffer, and there is a balance trunk, in the school "Kitawa" in Salasaca in Ecuador. Crazy [33]
