Die Kühe repräsentieren Mutter Erde, und deshalb betonen die heiligen Schriften Indiens, dass es ein grosser Frevel ist, Kühe zu töten. Wer Kühe tötet, tötet ein Teil von Mutter Erde und somit ein Teil von sich selbst. Es ist also nicht ohne Grund, dass dei Kühe in hochentwickelten Kulturen 'heilig' waren. Dies bedeutet nicht, dass man Kühe wie das legendäre goldene Kalb auf den Altar stellt und als Gott verehrt, sondern dass man sie als Repräsentationen von Mutter Erde respektiert, sie entsprechend behandelt und nicht ermordet."
